Take the world, but give me Jesus,
All its joys are but a name;
But His love abideth ever,
Through eternal years the same
Take the world, but give me Jesus,
Sweetest comfort of my soul;
With my Savior watching over me,
I can sing though billows roll
Take the world, but give me Jesus,
Let me view His constant smile;
Then throughout this life’s long journey
He will lead me all the while
Take the world, but give me Jesus.
In His cross my trust shall be,
Till, with clearer, brighter vision,
Face to face my Lord I see!
So take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
Oh, the height and depth of mercy!
Oh, the length and breadth of love!
Oh, the fullness of redemption,
Pledge of endless life above!
Oh, the height and depth of mercy!
Oh, the length and breadth of love!
Oh, the fullness of redemption,
Pledge of endless life above!
So take the world, but give me Jesus
So take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
Take the world, but give me Jesus
He is exalted
The King is exalted on high
And I will praise Him
He is exalted
Forever exalted
And I will praise His Name
He is the Lord
Forever His truth shall reign
Heaven and earth
Rejoice in His holy Name
He is exalted the King is exalted on high
The strife will not be long;
this day the noise of battle,
the next the victor’s song.
To him that overcometh
A crown of life shall be;
He with the King of Glory
Shall reign eternally.
,A good friend once said “I just can’t find a version of ‘I Cannot Tell’ that I really like.” And then I thought why is she telling me this?
But then I said “I can write you a version…”
And every night I have pondered on it, pondered on the events, turning them inside out and outside in my mind, until I finally realised what she had done: that she had skilfully organised all these events in my life to come together so that at the mere mention of that song I would automatically assume she would want me to record it.
And then…I realised I was actually Leo DiCaprio in Inception, and I had doubled the amount of prescribed cough syrup.
“But this I know: He heals the broken hearted,
And stays our sin, and calms our lurking fear,
And lifts the burden from the heavy laden,
For yet the Saviour, Saviour of the world is here.”
Number of One Direction jokes made from the pulpit: 2 (and counting)
O Father, my Father, I call on Your name;
my heart, it is heavy with sorrow and shame.
For I’ve been a coward, my courage has flown,
and love lies within me, as cold as a stone.No word can excuse me, no word that I say,
no place that I run to, can hide me away.
For nothing is hidden; yes, all is revealed,
You see how I’m sick, Lord; I want to be healed.O Father, my Father, I call on Your name,
Your promise is with me; to carry my blame,
You came as a servant, Your road, it was clear;
no coward was Jesus, for love knows no fear.O, how I do wish that my last day was here,
that I might be with You; where all is made clear;
where sorrow is over, the world is set free,
and that which we hope for is finally seen.
